STAGE 123

STAGE 01

IN THE MOULD SHOP
Removing the hull out of the mould.

Once our team of naval architects, designers and engineers determined the design of the Princess Y85, our craftspeople will bring her to life. The build of the Princess Y85 starts in our Plymouth shipyards with the removal of the (resin infused) fiberglass hull out of the mould. You will immediately witness the spaciousness and size of this beautiful yacht just before she is taken to the production site. The incredible journey to her owner has begun.

STAGE 02

PREPARING THE HULL
She is treated with love and care while the frames are being placed on the keel of the yacht.

Our craftspeople at the Plymouth shipyards welcome their new hull like a true Princess. Our passionate team never cut any corners, this is a true labour of love. After all, at Princess we believe the final result should always exceed expectations. You already get a sense of her imposing size before our Y85 is even taken to the production site. The incredible journey to her owner continues.

STAGE 03

HULL COMES TOGETHER
Gradually our Princess Y85 starts to take shape.

Once the major components such as the deck, hull and inner tray moulds are merged together, she will be transported to Unit 10, Newport Street in our brand home of Plymouth, where she will undergo the rest of her build. They eagerly await her arrival there for the next exciting stage of her journey.

STAGE 04

FIRST INTERIOR WALLS IN PLACE
Initial contours of the Y85 interior design become visible.

Once all of the moulds are in place, our skilled team of interior builders start the pre-build. With their renowned craftsmanship and incredible sense of detail, they place the first bulkheads in the lower deck of the Y85. The contours of her contemporary interior design are becoming visible.

STAGE 05

PIPING AND WIRING
The 26-meter yacht its gaining power

The interior bulkheads are put into place. While interior parts such as bulkhead panels, vanity units and wardrobes are being crafted in the Furniture Shop at Coypool, this is the ideal moment to install the piping and electrical wiring throughout the lower deck of our Princess. Step by step our Y85 is gaining momentum.

STAGE 06

PREPARING THE EXTERIOR
More and more components being put in place

Whilst the crew is working intensively on the interior of the lower deck, another team starts placing and sealing the windows; the stabilisers, the bow and stern thrusters plus the shaft for the propulsion are also put in place. Princess’ own craftsmen give each boat the sense of something special, something unique. More components being put in place as this beautiful boat is brought to life.

STAGE 07

POWER TO THE PRINCESS
The twin V12 give a total of 3.800 HP

Our Y85 comes to life as her twin MAN V12-1900 engines are installed. These power units will eventually propel the 26-meter yacht to a top speed of 32 knots. Whilst bulkheads and overheads are placed in the lower deck cabins, on the main deck the saloon is rising up. You can now begin to experience just how spacious this elegant Princess is.

STAGE 08

A UNIQUE INSIGHT
Pictures speak louder than words, experience our Plymouth shipyard through our latest video.

STAGE 09

INSTALLING THE INTERIOR
All the interior wooden elements of this yacht are manufactured in the carpentry workshop at the Coypool site in Plymouth. Made to measure, they are installed in their final destination inside the stunning Y85.

STAGE 10

EXTERIOR DECKS
It almost feels like the teak decks are being draped over the boat’s structure.

The teak is vacuum bonded to the GRP on the various levels on the Y85. This decking gives every yacht that soft, tactile warmth and elegance that the Y85 is already so admired for.

STAGE 11

FLYBRIDGE HAS LANDED
The flybridge descends decisively on our Princess with the utmost precision.

The final phases of the build are already in sight while the contours of the Princess Y85 become more and more visible.

STAGE 12

SHAPING THE INTERIOR
“Perfection is in the detail”.

While the finishing touches are being put on the exterior of the yacht, work on the interior is getting right down into the last details. This is what our dedicated craftspeople love the most.

STAGE 13

REVEALING THE DETAILS
And suddenly it goes very fast, as many details are revealed.

The atmospheric lighting and the elegant reflection on the steel parts, the sloping woodwork, all the details of the drawing board are now actually being revealed. They give the Y85 that indescribable feeling of pure class and quality. Our Princess is not even finished yet, but she is already so beautiful.

STAGE 13.5

THE FURNITURE SHOP
You really do see how fantastic she looks when all the woodwork comes together.

Step on board our Y85 and there is no denying the importance our own furniture shop plays in the creation of our yacht. From beautifully finished bulkheads and doors, to expertly crafted furnishings, down to the wooden panels hidden beneath carpets and linings. In our highly skilled shop, we combine technology with expert craftsmanship to create some of the finest yacht interiors in the world.

STAGE 14

LIGHTING IS THE KEY
The lighting on-board the Y85 makes a world of difference.

A well thought out lighting plan creates a specific on-board ambiance. It puts certain items in the spotlight and, gives accents to wooden curves and metal parts to create an elegant visual effect. The lighting is key in making our Princess Y85 shine even brighter.

STAGE 15

STABILIZORS ENSURE A SMOOTH RIDE
The active underwater fins minimize the rolling motion of the Y85.

Stabilizers were first used on a Japanese cruise liner in 1933. They look like wings fitted outside the hull. An ingenious gyro sensor sends a signal to the stabilizer system and makes the fins move in a direction that counteracts the roll. The bigger the boat and the longer the lever between the center of gravity and the fin, the more power it gives.

On our Y85 we installed stabilizers from Sleipner. This Norwegian company exists more than hundred years and masters the solutions for steering, stabilization and thruster systems at the highest level. For extra info: https://sleipnergroup.com/blog/stabilizers.

STAGE 15.5

PERFORMANCE PROPELLERS
Just before she is launched, we can catch a glimpse of the Princess Y85’ gold-colored VEEM propellers.

They were specifically designed for fast displacement yachts and allow her to cut through the water with low noise and incredible smoothness. It not only makes the Y85 a comfortable yacht to sail on, she is also more stable and efficient.

STAGE 16

SERIOUS SIZE
With the building process of the 26-meter yacht already in an advanced state,

the sheer size of our Y85 becomes more and more obvious.

To some it may seem like a daunting challenge to sail a yacht this size, but also a ship of this size can be operated quite easily. On the Y85 there are three places to take control of the yacht: the gangway controls while docking in the harbour, the flybridge while sailing on open water and enjoying the view, or simply inside at the helm seat.

STAGE 17

POWER PERFORMANCE
Do not be misled by the royal elegance of this Princess.

Hidden beneath her elegant exterior lie two MAN V12 engines with a total of 3,800hp which give her a top speed of 32 knots allowing this Princess to slice through the waves!

STAGE 18

INTERIOR DETAILS REVEALED
The end of the build is almost in sight.

More and more details are revealed by our craftsmen, giving the yacht her exceptional and luxurious appearance. Everywhere you look, your eyes experience the high quality of a true Princess.

STAGE 19

ELEGANT DOCKING
Docking the majestic Y85 may look like an impossible mission.

But with her bow and stern thrusters, manoeuvring feels elegant and graceful, something that makes her a true Princess.

STAGE 20

FIRST TIME OUT
After a construction period of six months, the doors of the construction hall in Plymouth open and our Princess sees the first light of day.

As we carefully transport her, she comes closer and closer to her moment of truth. Soon the Princess Y85 is about to hit the water for the very first time.

STAGE 21

FIRST SPLASH
Less than six months ago, the Y85 was still a design on the drawing board. Today this amazing yacht makes her first entry into the water.

The end of our construction process is the beginning of her own journey across seas and ports around the world. A journey that reflects a true Princess experience.

STAGE 22

THERE SHE GOES
This is what it is all about…sailing the seas.

So much has been created in the past six months. We started with a completely empty hull and now, after a six month building process, the Y85 is sailing her first nautical miles. Her maiden voyage is across the North Sea from the shipyard in Plymouth, England to the Netherlands.

On board practically everything has been crafted from raw materials and then finished to the high quality British feel associated with Princess. The shipyard has built yet another incredible yacht. We can now “experience the exceptional” anywhere on board from the beautiful details, contemporary design and through to that wonderful feeling of space when you are wandering around on board, enjoying the view.

And while the powerful engines gently bring us closer to the Dutch coast, we truly realise that the all-new Y85 is unmistakably a Princess.

Have a safe journey!

STAGE 23

AND HERE SHE IS
With her elegance she sailed into the harbour of Heusden (NL).

Majestic, stylish, self-confident, and above all very beautiful. It is not without reason that the PrincessY85 has become one of the most popular yachts in our range. She is simply one of a kind. And now ready for her introduction to Dutch and Belgian waters.
